We build for outcomes. Since we launched Popular Power three years ago, we have taken a serious approach to listening to the pain points and the ambitions of the companies running distributed solar, and to building a product that changes results rather than easing daily hassle. (Though it eases that too.)
The product started with a simple premise: how do we take the pain out of fragmented, multi-platform monitoring? How do we bring five or more inverter brands into one place, so nobody is managing five logins and reconciling five definitions of the same number? How do we make sure every site in your portfolio is measured against the same criteria?
Consolidating those portals gave our partners back hours every week while the shape of their business stayed roughly where it was, so we set out to move the numbers that decides that shape, which are revenue and cost per kWp.
One of our organizing questions in product design is how we graduate a company from monitoring to intelligence. Staring at a power curve on a screen for “monitoring” accomplishes nothing by itself, and last month's generation figure read without a target and without context accomplishes very little more. We exist to raise the standard of excellence in distributed solar asset management, which keeps bringing us back to one question on behalf of our partners: how do you maximize the value of every kWp, for your company and for your end customers?
With that in mind, I’m pleased to introduce new, key features from the brand new Popular Power.
Recoverable Value: one number your whole company can act on
Recoverable Value answers a specific question. If we fix what is wrong at this site, how many dollars come back over the next 60 days?
We calculate it by comparing what the site actually generated against what it should have generated given the real weather at its location, falling back to its contractual target where weather data is unavailable, then valuing that gap at the tariff registered for the site. It recalculates every night.
What that changes inside a company:
- Your teams share one language. The technician, the O&M manager, the asset manager and the CFO have historically each described the same underperforming site in a different vocabulary. A dollar figure travels across all four.
- O&M spend becomes arithmetic. A truck roll is worth making when the recoverable value exceeds the cost of the visit. That comparison used to be a judgment call defended in a meeting, and now it sits on the screen.
- Opportunity gets quantified alongside risk. At a healthy site, the same calculation surfaces generation available to capture rather than losses to stop.
- You have something to show. Asset managers and EPCs can demonstrate to an end client what a service contract returned, in the client's own currency.
Operations Center: from thousands of alerts to a short, ranked list of work
A portfolio of any size generates thousands of alerts a month, and most of them require nothing from you. The Operations Center converts that stream into Findings, and puts them in the order that money says they belong in.
- Issues, not alerts. When ten inverters at one site report the same fault, that is one item on your list. Roughly 97% of the raw alert volume stops competing for your team's attention.
- Two kinds of Findings. Issues are problems costing you generation. Opportunities are value available at sites that are already healthy, surfaced with a Popular badge.
- Ranked by dollars. The first row is the highest-impact one. Filter by site, brand, capacity, tag, category or severity.
- Handled end to end. Acknowledge, assign to a technician, schedule the visit and resolve, without leaving the screen.
- Measured after the fact. When your team logs what they did, the platform compares site performance before and after the intervention, climate-adjusted, at 7, 30 and 60 days. Your Operations Center reports Value Recovered over the last 90 days, MTTR, and O&M Effectiveness.
Measuring the impact of maintenance closes a loop the industry has left open for a decade. The value of good maintenance has always been argued from experience, and it can now be argued from measurement, which is what turns a monitoring contract into an O&M guarantee and a one-off repair into a renewal.
DC and String Metrics: stronger fundamentals under the intelligence
Intelligence rests on the quality of the signal underneath it, so this release adds the lowest-level signals in the system.
String-level DC voltage and current now live in the platform, along with MPPT mapping and a dispersion rate (the coefficient of variation across strings sharing an MPPT), banded in line with IEC 62446-1. Dispersion is the single most useful in-platform indicator of an inverter's internal health, and it separates shading, soiling, degradation and connection faults from a dip the weather explains. Your team stops logging out of Popular Power to answer why is this site down.
Coverage varies by manufacturer. Full per-string voltage and current are live for Solis, Huawei and Growatt, with SolarEdge, Sungrow and APsystems next. Brands whose APIs expose MPPT-level data only (Fronius, CPS, Victron, and SMA depending on model) surface MPPT-level DC without the per-string diagnostic. Where a manufacturer reports nothing, we show nothing rather than inferring a value. Alongside this, GoodWe, SolaX, Hoymiles, Livoltek and Deye have joined the roster of supported brands.
Ask Popular AI
Since V3, Popular Power has invested heavily in artificial intelligence, mostly as machine-learning-derived insight running underneath the product. This release is the first time that intelligence has a name, a voice, and the ability to do work on your behalf.
We asked ourselves a simple question: if we were building this platform from scratch today, how would we build it? The answer puts AI at the center of how a solar portfolio gets operated. You ask what you need to know and you have the answer in seconds, with the entire portfolio in context.

(A non-exhaustive list of) What it answers
- Portfolio triage. Which sites need attention this week, ranked and quantified in dollars. This is the single most-asked question on the platform.
- Climate-adjusted performance for any site, group or portfolio, over any window you choose: year to date, contract year, last 60 days, or a custom range.
- Why a site is low. It separates weather, genuine faults and missing data before it recommends anything, and it will tell you when the answer is "nothing is wrong here."
- Contract-balance forecasting. Month-by-month trajectory toward the annual commitment, including what a delayed repair costs you against it.
- Connectivity and data health. Sites offline, sites reporting zeros while marked online, missing coordinates, wrong timezones, decommissioned inverters still counted as losses.
- String and DC diagnosis. Which string, how far off, and the likely cause: soiling, shading, connector, disconnection, ground fault, arc fault.
- Savings and tariff mechanics, with select local utility knowledge built in, including support for a billing dispute.
- Wash now or wait. Soiling rate, the climate-adjusted effect of the last cleaning, and whether coming rain makes the visit unnecessary.

Three sessions from the last few weeks
All three are real operator sessions, anonymized. Site names, company names and hardware brands are removed.
- An operator asked when to schedule the next cleaning at one of their sites. The answer was to schedule nothing. The site was generating 110% of what its climate predicted, rainy season was arriving, and late October was the earliest a wash would pay for itself.
- An operator asked for a post-maintenance report with charts covering the fifteen days either side of the work. The agent built it, and added upload slots for before-and-after photographs that nobody had asked for, on the grounds that a maintenance report an end client will actually read is stronger with them.
- A hospitality site was hitting 82.7% of its contractual target and 107% against climate. The agent's recommendation was to recalibrate an unrealistic contract number rather than dispatch a technician, and it quantified around $5k USD in monthly savings while doing so.
- A Mexican industrial asset manager validated a $16,600 USD utility overcharge. The agent went further and spotted that the utility had likely also over-estimated peak demand by copying a pre-solar reading, worth another $1.2k-2.4k USD a month, and named the exact receipt fields required to prove it.
- A Central American operator uploaded a one-day CSV asking why generation had dropped. The agent found seven inverters tripped together in a grid event, noticed one stayed dead for four hours afterward, and traced it to an insulation resistance of 61 kΩ against 300 to 1,300 kΩ on the healthy units. That is the electrical signature of a string ground fault, and it recommended a megger test.
We would rather the agent tell an operator what it cannot see than fill the gap, and those sessions are it doing exactly that.

A platform rebuilt around the work: We also rebuilt the front end. The previous interface presented telemetry accurately and left the operator to translate numbers into action. The new one presents the work: what needs your attention, what it is worth, who has it, and whether the last thing you did moved the number. Four surfaces (Home, Sites, Operations Center and Site Detail) were redesigned from scratch under a new design system, with Ask Popular reachable from every page.
